Alex Johnson, Co-founder
Over the last 14 years, Alex has been travelling to Timor-Leste. In 2017 he started Timor Unearthed with the goal connecting Australia and Timorese communities through sustainable tourism. He has over a decade worth of experience working as a health and safety professional within private consulting and the education sector in Australia. Alex is the main point of contact for our clients to help plan and design our experiences.

Anas Madeira, Co-founder
Anas has over 15 years experience working in tourism. He has studied and lived in Australia, Japan and Singapore, and was a Youth Ambassador for the UN. Anas manages our team on the ground and oversees all our tour programs. Anas plays an important role training and mentoring our junior staff.

Manuela Soares, Assistant Manager
Elha joined our team in 2022 after completing a Bachelor of Tourism from Dili Institute of Technology. She's an experienced guide leading our school and university groups and adventure travel tours. Elha looks after our office admin and bookings to make sure everything runs smoothly on your trip!
Zetania Da Costa, Tour Coordinator
Tania joined the our team in 2022, after graduating from Dili Institute of Technology University with a tourism degree. Zetania’s loves sharing Timorese history and culture with our travelers and is always up for a laugh. She's an experienced guide leading our educational programs and adventure trips!

Noberto Da Cruz, Homestay Coordinator
Norberto lives in the rural village where our homestay program is based. He has over 10 years epxerience working with international school groups as a translator and guide. As our homestay coordinator Norberto manages our partnering host families and activities within the community. Norberto is proud to work in this role to support his home community through sustainable tourism.

Romeu de Araújo, Tour Guide
Romeu's been on our team since 2022, managing our drivers and logisitcs on tour. In 2024 he graduated from Dili Institute of Technology with a tourism degree. He love’s organizing games of football, singing and playing guitar. No doubt he'll have taught you some traditional Timorese songs by the end of the trip!
